We are having a grading/try-out/find a new partner day in Sunday September 2019 at 9am at Caterson Tennis Centre Caterson Drive Castle Hill. If you are new to our club you need to come along and be graded and we can also find you a partner (if you do not have one) for our Junior summer competition to start after the September school holidays.
We currently have one of the largest and well graded Junior competitions in Sydney and the Hills District with over 400 players competing each week.
We organise two seasonal competitions throughout the year for boys and girls.
The Summer competition commences from Term 4 (mid October) and runs through until end of Term 2 ( April School holidays)
The Winter competition commences from Term 2 ( after April school holidays ) and runs through until end of Term 3. ( Sept school holidays)
The competition is held every Saturday morning during school Terms (no play school holidays) . Lower graded divisions 8am-10am and higher grades play from 10am-12noon. Format is 2 boys or 2 girls per team with each player playing 2 sets of doubles and 1 set of singles. Players are also seeded in each team.
All new junior players must attend advertised grading sessions usually held at the end of each competition ( 2 per year) or register your entry with your coach . If you have missed out on the current competition there is still an opportunity to participate by being on the “pool” reserve list.
The Boys and Girls competition format is as follows:
Short deuces – receiver elects the side on which they are to receive serve
Tie breakers at “5 all”
To fit all of this tennis into this compact time you will need to start play right on time which means turning up at the court at 7.45am for an 8 am start and 9.45am for a 10am start.
In the past, most teams have preferred to have an extra player in their team to cover for illness and holidays etc, we would highly recommend this. For those of you who want as much tennis as you can get and only have 2 players, that is also fine. Should there be more than 2 players in a team it is expected that every player will have equal play during the season. We also have a “pool” list of reserves who have been graded to play if required.
All HDTA Competition players must be current registered members of Tennis NSW and Hills District Tennis Association. HDTA membership is included as part of team registration fees upon receipt of a completed comp registration form for each player. (No membership form is required for comp players)Join Today
